COLUMBIA, MO — Though the only elevator in the six-floor building has been out of operation long enough to probably render my apartment complex ADA-noncompliant, Americans everywhere are rejoicing another step toward equal housing access for all: some blacked-out undergraduate broke the door allowing entrance into my apartment complex.
The door is now unable to shut entirely, rendering its lock completely ineffective. This will allow citizens without a lease, or a passkey lent by a friend — or really any reason to be in the building — entrance.
We tried to contact the leasing company for their insight, but they mistook it for a maintenance request and declined to comment. Nonetheless, we’re sure representatives would agree this historic triumph against women living alone is just another reason to celebrate this holiday season.
